Position Summary
Plans and coordinates all aspects of the company’s quality program. Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives, supervises and trains employees and engages in plant functions. Develops and analyzes statistical data and specifications to determine present product standards and establish proposed quality/reliability expectancy. Formulates and coordinates quality objectives with other organizational groups to obtain an economical product/service quality and reliability level. Plans, promotes, and organizes quality training and communication activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
- Maintains compliance with Giddings & Lewis Quality Management Systems (QMS) based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and other applicable standards.
- Supports management review meetings and reports on QMS effectiveness.
- Coordinates internal audit programs, reporting findings and corrective action follow-up.
- Liaise with external auditors and certification bodies.
- Train employees on QMS procedures and requirements and educate and promote understanding of the QMS.
- Acts as liaison with the customer on contract quality issues for all goods and services produced by the plant.
- Implements document control systems and coordinates review and approval activities for the Quality Manual, procedures, and work instructions that support our quality system.
- Responsible for Supplier Development programs and improvements. Provides recommendations and assists Purchasing with supplier selection or termination actions. Establishes supplier quality performance metrics. Performs supplier evaluations including quality control plans and product reviews. Coordinates supplier corrective actions and drives resolution of supplier quality issues.
- Develop performance measures to assess the effectiveness of quality processes.
- Establishes formal quality verification systems and standards to assure that all products, components and materials meet company and customer requirements.
- Implement practices and procedures which will provide a high level of confidence in measuring capabilities throughout the manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Coordinates activities associated with identifying, handling, dispositioning, and reporting on nonconformance, as well as directs analytical efforts intended to eliminate the causes of non-conformance.
- Maintains a system for identifying potential corrective actions by analyzing non-conformances, process inefficiencies and performance shortfalls in all areas of the organization.
- Establishes procedures for distributing, reviewing, collecting, organizing, reporting and storing quality records.
- Participates in training and certification activities.
- Uses data collection, measurement analysis, statistical analysis, capability studies, control plans and other quality tools to drive decision-making and improve quality
- Monitors customer satisfaction surveys and follow through with improvements to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
- Achieves company quality metrics
- Monitors warranty performance of all products and drives product improvement and customer satisfaction by coordinating actions to reduce warranty issues by eliminating the root cause.
- Responsible for managing incoming inspection of purchased and machined parts and for all inspection activities necessary to build final products. Provides final recommendation to General Manager on shipment of any machine with open issues.
- Coordinates resolution of out-of-control process issues related to purchased parts, machined components or assemblies.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing or related field
- Minimum 6-10 years related experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, OEM preferred
- Experience with supplier quality and customer quality programs

- Machining or assembly of precision components, preferred
- Metrology and gage calibration
- Statistical analysis and capability studies
- Internal auditing
- Document control and QMS administration
