Fives North American Combustion, Inc. is hiring a permanent, full-time Fabricator (layout) to join our team in Cleveland, OH.

At Fives, we all have a part to play in achieving our common mission. Your role will be to:

Brake press / Slip Roll Forming machine operator:

• Monitor tool life and change as needed.
• Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
• Capable of Safely programming and setting up CNC press brake & motorized 3 roll forming machines
• Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
• Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes.
• Adjust the front clamping rollers for material thickness and parallel alignment, and set the rear forming roller to control the radius of the bend
• Feed metal sheets through the pyramid roller configuration incrementally, adjusting pressure gradually to form to tolerance on blueprints.
• Start machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
• Operate or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.

Welding:

• Welds metal parts together, using gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes.
• Performs related tasks, such as thermal cutting and grinding.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
• Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
• May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch.
• May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations
• Assembly and welding of laid-out components
• Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding
• Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts

Layout:

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequences and methods of fabricating, assembling, products.
• Laying out and marking dimensions and center lines, bolt circles on material & to develop patterns / templates for parts or making fixtures.
• Safe operation and usage of various equipment, to include but not limited to shears, punch presses, grinders, band saw, overhead bridge, and jib cranes & lift trucks.

• Proven experience as a welder/fitter: 5-10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven experience in forming. 5+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• D1 certification or related certifications preferred
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization occurs
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form 
• Previous experience in heavy manufacturing
• Ability to read blue prints
