The student will be exposed to the engineering design process by being given assignments of increasing scope and responsibility over the course of his/her coop career at Fives Machining Systems, Inc (FMSI). Requirements Fives Giddings & Lewis is seeking a Precision Assembler to build, fit, align, and verify high-precision machine tool components and assemblies. This role works from engineering drawings and assembly instructions to ensure machines meet quality and customer specifications. Key Responsibilities o Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and machine systems. o Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation. o Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment. o Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, and assembly operations. o Verify dimensions, tolerances, and machine specifications. o Operate cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment safely. o Troubleshoot assembly and fit-up issues as they arise. o Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. o Support machine testing, checkout, and quality inspections. Qualifications o Mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred. o Ability to read mechanical drawings and work instructions. o Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers. o Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. o Ability to safely lift, move, and assemble large machine components.
