Proactively attain a clean, safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Retrieve and study assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.
Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.
Prepare parts prior to assembly. This includes small sized unit assembly work.
Requirements
Fives Giddings & Lewis is seeking a Precision Assembler to build, fit, align, and verify high-precision machine tool components and assemblies. This role works from engineering drawings and assembly instructions to ensure machines meet quality and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and machine systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, and assembly operations.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and machine specifications.
- Operate cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Troubleshoot assembly and fit-up issues as they arise.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Support machine testing, checkout, and quality inspections.
Qualifications
- Mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and work instructions.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and assemble large machine components.
